Assigning an order
An order reaches a driver only when its status says it can. Everything else on this screen follows from that one switch.
Only statuses that allow a driver offer this.
Which orders offer a driver
Every status carries an allows a driver switch. Two of the seventeen you start with have it on: Pickup and Out for delivery. Turn it on for others, or off for those two, under your statuses — see Moving an order through its statuses.
Orders sitting at such a status with nobody against them collect under Needs assignment, oldest first, each row showing the customer, the reference, the service, the address, whether it is a pickup or a delivery, and how many minutes it has been waiting. Orders marked urgent are flagged. The queue shows eight at a time, and you can raise that to fifteen or thirty.
Try to assign an order at any other status and Wash Junkie refuses, naming the statuses that would work. Try to assign one that already has a driver and it refuses too — an order has one driver at a time.
Handing it over
Press Assign on the waiting order
The row's button opens the driver dialog. The order it applies to is named at the top, so there is no chance of assigning the wrong one.
Choose a driver
The dialog lists the drivers marked available, with their vehicle. A driver who is off duty or unavailable is not offered, and cannot be given work.
It leaves the queue
The order gets the driver, the driver flips to on delivery, and the order's own history gains a line — “Assigned to Marco Silva” — with the time and who did it.
A driver carries a round, not a single job. Their panel shows On this round with a count and every order they are holding: customer, reference, address and the estimate where one was given.
Finishing, or handing it back
Open a driver who is on delivery and two buttons appear.
Mark delivered moves the order to Delivered, stamps the time it was completed, adds one to the driver's delivery count, folds the trip into their average delivery time, and records what they earned — see Earnings. The order's history gets the status line too, exactly as if you had moved it from the order itself.
Unassign takes the order off the driver and drops it back into Needs assignment for somebody else. The status does not move: an order unassigned from Out for delivery is still out for delivery until you change it.
Either way, the driver goes back to available only when nothing else on their round is still theirs. Finish one of three and they stay on delivery, holding the other two.
