Moving an order through its statuses
An order's status is the answer to “where is it?”, and it is the same answer your customer gets. Your statuses are yours: rename them, recolour them, reorder them, delete the ones you do not use.
Washing allows a machine, so picking it offers the washers that are free.
Any status can follow any other — the list is yours.
The seventeen you start with
Every business is seeded with the same seventeen, in this order:
New · Pickup · Received · Sorting · Pre-treatment · Washing · Drying · Folding · Ironing · Quality check · Ready · Out for delivery · Delivered
and three side-tracks that mean something is wrong rather than something is further along: On hold, Issue, Cancelled, and Returned.
Delete the ones you do not do. A shop that does not iron should not have an Ironing column.
What a status can carry
Each one has switches behind it:
- Allows a machine — picking it offers your free washers or dryers, and loading one is part of the same action.
- Allows a driver — picking it offers your available drivers.
- Marks complete — the order counts as finished for turnaround and revenue.
- Is an exception — it shows up under “Needs you” rather than as progress.
