Roles and permissions

A role is a named set of permissions. Every business is seeded with four, they are yours to edit, and you can add your own. Roles & access, at the top of the Team screen, is where they live.

Four to start with. Edit them, or build your own.

Manager, Cashier, Staff and Driver. Nobody has to keep them as they are.

Manager runs the outlet — full operations plus reports. Cashier is the front desk, taking orders and payments. Staff is general operations on the floor. Driver is pickup and delivery, read only.

The sixteen permissions

Each one belongs to a group — Orders, Customers, Operations, Insights, Administration — and grants one of two things. Full is read and write. View is read only. A dash is no access.

One row opens nothing: Wash Junkie does not issue refunds or reverse a recorded payment, so that switch grants a capability the product does not have. Correcting a mis-keyed payment is a removal, and removals sit under Record payments.

Some of these are a screen, and show as two switches. Some are a single action — recording a payment, deleting an item — and show as one switch, the write half; granting view alone leaves the action off. Writing always implies reading, because nobody usefully edits a screen they cannot see.

Seven rows start with nobody

Read down the table and seven are empty across all four roles: the four destructive order permissions, deleting catalogue entries, business settings and staff. Those are the ones that lose work or widen access, so they begin with the owner alone and stay there until you hand one over deliberately.

Editing roles, and building your own

Change any role's name, colour, description and permissions. Only the owner may edit one of the four built-in roles or its access; a delegated admin edits the roles the business added.

A role you create behaves like a built-in in every way but one: you can delete it. The four built-ins cannot be deleted — take their permissions away instead. And no role goes while somebody holds it or a pending invite names it. Move those people to another role, or revoke the invite, first.
