Access is per outlet
Wash Junkie does not give somebody a role at your business. It gives them a role at an outlet. If you run more than one, this is the single idea that explains everything else on the Team screen.
One person, one row per outlet
Each teammate's card on the Team screen has a row for every outlet they belong to, and each row carries its own role, its own status and its own set of buttons. Grace Lin can be a Manager at Mill Street and a Cashier at your second outlet, and changing one row leaves the other untouched.
The role is resolved against whichever outlet is currently selected. Grace signs in once, switches from Mill Street to the second outlet, and her permissions change with the switch — the Catalog she could edit a moment ago is now one she can only look at.
The outlet picker only ever offers the outlets she actually holds. There is no outlet she can select and then find she cannot use.
No row means no access
If a person has no membership at the outlet they are trying to enter, they do not get a limited view of it. They get nothing, and the outlet is not in their picker at all. Wash Junkie fails closed everywhere: a permission that was never granted is denied, not assumed.
That is what makes the buttons on each row meaningful.
- Suspend keeps the person on your team but takes that outlet away immediately. They cannot sign in to it or do anything there until you reactivate them, and their other outlets carry on as normal.
- Reactivate hands the same role back, at once.
- Remove ends the membership at that outlet. Access goes straight away, their record and everything they did there is kept, and you can add them back later.
A teammate who holds Staff & roles can do all three to other people, but not to themselves — your own row does not offer them, and the server refuses the change even if it is asked for another way. Nobody edits their own access.
Giving somebody an outlet they do not have
Send them another invite. It goes to the same address, you tick the outlets you want them to hold, and accepting it creates a membership at each — including ones they lost, which come back rather than doubling up.
One thing to watch: the role on that invite applies to every outlet on it. If Grace is a Manager at Mill Street and you send her a Cashier invite with Mill Street still ticked, accepting it makes her a Cashier there. Untick the outlets you did not mean to change. See Inviting someone.
The owner is not a member
Ownership is a property of the business itself, not a role anybody granted. The owner appears at the top of the members list as You, badged Owner, with no outlet rows and no buttons — because there is nothing to set.
When the owner does anything, Wash Junkie never consults the permission table at all. It short-circuits: owner, allowed, at every outlet of that business. This is deliberate and it has one consequence worth knowing — the owner cannot be locked out. Take every permission off every role, delete the roles you built, and the owner still gets in and can put it all back.
