Services and priced items

Every price on every order comes from your catalogue. At the counter an operator picks items off it and never keys an amount. This is how you build the list they pick from.

Wash & FoldPer kg$4.40 / kg
Dry CleanPer item$8.00 / item
IroningPer item$2.20 / item
BeddingPer set$14.00 / set

Five categories are seeded. The prices are yours.

Five categories arrive seeded. Everything underneath them is yours.

The five you start with

Wash & Fold, Dry Clean, Ironing, Bedding and Express W&F. Each arrives with an icon, a one-line description and its switch already on.

Each one also arrives empty. No items, no prices — the catalogue reads "0 active items" against all five, and it means it. What you charge for a shirt is not something to guess at, so nothing was guessed.

Rename them, switch off the ones you do not do, or add your own with + Service in the left-hand column. A service needs a name; a description and an icon are yours to choose. If a name you already use matches a seeded one — ignoring capitals and stray spaces — it is not created twice.

Adding an item

Pick a service, then Add item. Six things describe what you are selling.

FieldWhat it does
NameWhat the operator sees in the picker at intake
DescriptionOne line under the name
PriceThe amount, in the currency your outlet works in
Pricing typeHow the amount is multiplied — see Pricing types
Unit labelThe word after the price: kg, item, set
TurnaroundChosen from a list running from 3 hours to 30 days

Turnaround is not decoration. An order's due time is worked out from its own lines, and an order is not ready until its slowest item is: a 48-hour suit and a 12-hour shirt in the same bag make an order due in 48 hours.

Mark as popular puts a Popular badge on the item in your catalogue.

Switching off versus deleting

Every service and every item has a toggle. Switch one off and it stops being offered, but stays where it is with its price and its history intact — the row greys out and reads Disabled. Show disabled starts on, so a switched-off item stays in view; turn it off to hide them, or use the all / active / inactive filter above the list. The count on the right of that bar always tells you how many of the service's items are live.

A seasonal item you switch off in March is waiting, priced, in October. That is almost always what you want instead of deleting.

Deleting needs a role that is allowed to delete from the catalogue. A role with ordinary catalogue rights can add, edit and switch things off, and sees no delete control at all.

Finding your way around a long list

The left-hand column lists your services with a live count of active items against each, and at its foot two figures for the whole catalogue: active services and active items. Inside a service there is a search box that filters that service's items as you type — worth having once Dry Clean holds forty garments.
